Fixing Up the 1st Scene
In my last blog post, I finished the montage within this scene. In this blog post, I will be adding the rest of my shots and making sure the first scene runs the way I want it to. This should be relatively easy to do as the main thing I will have to focus on is adjusting the transitions.
Process
To set up all the filmed parts of scene one, I first imported all the media that I had not already added for this scene into Adobe Premiere Pro. Then, I made sure the order of the shots was correct. My next step was to see how long the first scene was and alter the run times of different shots accordingly. My aim for this scene was for it to be 30 - 40 seconds long. Finally, I chose how I wanted to transition between each shot.
Challenges
In my first shot, I accidentally slowed down during the pan towards the end and the clip was 15 seconds long. I used the Playback Speed feature in Premiere Pro to make this clip shorter.
Additionally, I had trouble getting the timing and look of the transition I wanted between the hallway scene and the start of the montage. I wanted to have the hallway scene to fade to black and then cut to the montage about 1-2 seconds after. As I looked around in Premiere Pro, I found out that I could add blanks. I did this and I was able to get the exact transition I wanted.
Reflection
While I did have a few struggles while editing the first scene, I think editing for this scene went pretty smoothly. I learned a lot about how to transition between scenes and how to use resources within the software for pacing. In my next blog post, I will be abridging the sequence where I make my bed.
Until then, farewell!
